Description

The Greek St Theophilos Icon. A Saint Neomartyr Theofilos holding the cross. He  is dressed in  garments of vivid red and blue with a pinch of yellow.

The technique we are using for the creation of this portrait is the same that were used for centuries in traditional iconography. The materials used for the creation of the piece are:

• A  wooden board with a metal hanger on the back
• Egg tempera amd  copper gold with an antique patina on.
• Shellac and resin varnish to seal the colors

The name of the Neomartyr (O Agios Theofilos)  is painted on the sides of his halo in Greek letters.
