A Holy Pentecost icon painting, a Medieval representation of the feast. An icon, filled with detail and symbolism.

The Colors that rhythmically and harmonically overlap each other in the garments of the Apostles. To summarize the materials used for the creation of the Pentecost icon painting:

• A specially prepared, with gesso, wooden board
• The traditional Egg tempera, that is an emulsion made by egg yolk and vinegar.
• A red border that works as a frame
• Shellac and resin varnish to seal the colors
• A  metal hanger

On the background copper gold and the “tongues” of fire symbolizing the descent of the Holy Spirit. The empty throne in the middle, implicating who should be seated there.

Finally, dressed with red there is a young man, a personification of the (vain and kingly) world/ cosmos that each one of them is called to preach in.
