Description

The Framed Icon of Christ the Bridegroom is placed on the center of an Orthodox Church. The icon serves as a picture for the Bridegroom matins of  the Holy Week . At the culmination of the Passion of our Lord we chant:

….Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant whom He shall find watching/  and again unworthy is the servant whom He shall find heedless. …. (source oca.org)

The byzantine icon Christ the Bridegroom. The icon is hand-painted, with several layers of egg tempera, on a light gessoed wooden panel that we ‘ve prepared ourselves here in angelicon. The painting was sealed with shellac and the resin varnish and then framed with a 22K gold frame. It comes carefully protected and wrapped as a gift with some little extras from our shop
