Painting of Visitation . An incident from the life of the Virgin Mary. It is the point where St Elisabeth rushes to embrace the Holy Mother. On the frame the  Letter “E” from the Akathist Hymn:

The Virgin, bearing God in her womb, hastened to visit Elizabeth, whose own babe at once knowing her greeting, rejoiced and leaping up as if in song, cried out to the Theotokos:……”

The Painting of Visitation is made on a repurposed wooden panel (the board of a wooden toy ). I also used the following Materials :

• Gesso for the preparation of the surface of th e repurposed board
• Egg tempera
• Copper gold (that will eventually acquire an antique patina)
• Shellac
• Varnish
