Description
St Hilda of Whitby, the Abbess of the great Abbey in Yorkshire. St Hilda was a woman renowned for her superb knowledge and one of the first saints of the British Isles. She is dressed in white and blue- and as a founding member (ktetor in Greek) she is holding the abbey at her hand.
The materials we used for the creation of this icon were:
- A specially prepared gessoed plywood
- Eggtempera and copper gold
- Resin varnish and finally a metal hanger on the back
The icon of the Abbess of Whitby is prepared as a gift. It also comes assorted with some little extras from our shop
