Description
St Makarios and the Cherub is a theme first found in one of the oldest Sinai icons. The miraculous encounter of Abba Macarius with a multi-eyed, celestial being. I attempted to render it in a more “contemporary” and abstract way. I am always wondering how many lines are needed to catch the essence of a theme and I am experimenting with this concept, in a series of two-pieces icons
- I used eggtempera as a medium.
- The halo of Abba Macarius and of the Cherub are gilded with copper gold.
- Both pieces are varnished to produce an icon that lasts.
- Additionally, each piece has a metalic hanger on the back and the can be hanged at the same leve or at a totally different one
The icon is prepared as a gift with some mini extras from our shop
