Description

Sts Aquila and Priscilla is a couple that is mentioned several rtimes over in the New testament. They were disciples of St Paul and among the 70 apostles, They worked, preached and stayed side byy side. They became the patrons of marriage and of missionaries

This is an original painting of the two Saints. I Thought of placing them in a historical and stylistical context near to they age they lived.  I used limited and strong colors for their garments and had Priscila holding a scroll to display her role at preaching the gospel along with her husband

The materials I ve used were

• A prepared with gesso  canvas that is cracked to have a surgface resembling an antique painting
• A piece of plywood measuring 30x40cm  approx and 9 mm thick
• Eggtempera
• Copper gold with an copperish dye applied on top in order to have an antique look
• Water based varnish was used to to seal the colors
•  A hanger on the back

The icon of these first christian saints is packaged as a gift with some little extras from our shop
